My Perimenopause Story
At 45, I was newly married and suffering with my own cocktail of confusing symptoms that mimicked burnout. My vagina was red raw, and hurt inside and out. I had moments of extreme RAGE and anxiety, that I never had before. And I could not sleep through the night.
I felt literally crazy in my head…
Going from doctor to doctor, then two different gynecologists and two different therapists, I got zero support. I walked out with the same symptoms and nothing more than a prescription for antidepressants. I kept saying, “I AM NOT DEPRESSED!” But, because I was still getting my period regularly, they did not want to give me hormone replacement therapy.
So, I took matters into my own hands and looked holistically.
Menopause Yoga: I got certified in Menopause Yoga (MY) with Petra Coveney. This approach is specifically adapted to help women positively manage perimenopause to menopause and beyond. This type of yoga and breath work not only helps me to cope with the change, but gives me a path to follow that is positive and nourishing.
Hormone Nutrition & Fasting Training: With Dr. Mindy Pelz, I got certified in her method, Fast Like a Girl. She taught me how to eat to support our hormones during the cycle and how to best support the body with exercise and lifestyle, for the best result.
Since my certifications, I have been leading workshops, yoga classes and private coaching for women who just need to understand what is happening in their body.

In the workshops and retreats, you will learn and practice a variety of yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques specifically tailored to address the different phases of the Menopause (pre, peri, and post menopause.)
The yoga practices are designed to alleviate common symptoms such as hot flashes, fatigue, anxiety, and joint stiffness, while promoting overall well-being.

Nutrition to Support Women's Hormonal Cycles
Prioritizing a nutrient-rich diet is essential for women as they move through the Menopause. For example, calcium-rich foods help to maintain bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Foods high in phytoestrogens, like soy products, flaxseeds, and legumes, may help with hot flashes and night sweats. Heart-healthy fats, like avocados, nuts, and olive oil, can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Supplements for Menopause Symptoms
There are so many different remedies for the menopause including medicine, hormone replacement therapy, hormone creams, along with natural remedies from plants. When you start to research you will see the breadth of possible solutions out there might want to explore what could work for you. During my workshops, I share the most common ones so that you can best prepare to work with a professional herbalist or doctor to ensure proper care and attention when taking medicines and herbs.
